In a few short years, the Swedish Neuroscience Institute has moved from a visionary concept to a busy, essential part of the Northwest’s medical scene. Today, more than 90 neuro-specialists practice in a new $30 million comprehensive neurosurgical center. Their work has made remarkable strides in managing Parkinson’s disease, lessening the damage caused by strokes, treating aneurysms and attacking brain tumors, to name just a few achievements.
Still, there is much more work to be done. As the population ages, more and more people will come to rely on the care provided and the research done at Swedish. And, Swedish’s proximity to other Seattle organizations doing pioneering work in biotechnology and software engineering make Swedish the perfect home for a world-class center for neuroscience.
Private philanthropy will play a critical role in the continued expansion and improvement of the Institute.
